NCDOI representatives will provide an update on the strategies and initiatives of the Department along with regulatory updates.
 
 
NC Worker’s Compensation Laws, Fines and Penalties (75 minutes)
Industrial Commission representatives, attorneys, and leading industry experts will provide an overview of the NC Worker’s Compensation laws, overview of regulatory role of the Industrial Commission, provide an update on fines/penalties, and the role, duty, and challenges for the agents assisting businesses in procuring worker’s compensation insurance.

Ethical Considerations for Agency Websites & Social Media Usage (50 minutes)
Many agencies already actively use their website and social media to promote their agency products and services. While social media is an excellent way to connect with customers, increase visibility of the agency, and build relationships with prospects, its usage does have some ethical considerations and responsibilities for insurance licensee. In addition, agencies must be diligent to make sure products, services, and agency staff are represented on their website in a fair and ethical manner to consumers.

Flood, Catastrophes, & Claims (50 minutes)
Leading flood insurance experts will discuss the challenges of dealing with flood claims during catastrophes and provide information on the claims process, FEMA, elevation updates, private flood insurance, etc. In addition, they will stress the best practice of offering flood insurance to all homeowners and how to document if consumer declines coverage.

Ethics, Regulations, & Protecting Consumer Insurance Data in a Cyber World (50 minutes)
Cyber liability and data breach present an ever increasing concern to all businesses, but appropriately securing consumer insurance data and personally identifiable information is the responsibility of the insurance licensee by both Federal/State law. Best practices for a written information security plan for insurance agencies and staff training will be covered in detail along with resources to ensure that consumer insurance data is handled in an ethical and professional manner in compliance with Federal/State law.
