IIANC has been in close contact and consultation with NC Department of Insurance (NCDOI) leadership, to identify and address any and all issues impacting agents as a result of the COVID-19 situation, including CE compliance and licensing. See below for updates and changes to both.

We remain committed to serving and assisting all IIANC members during this difficult time, and will remain in ongoing communication with NCDOI throughout this emergency situation.  Please advise IIANC of anything that comes up within your agency business that also needs to be addressed.

CE Compliance

All NC licensed insurance producers and adjusters whose Continuing Education (CE) compliance period expires in March, April, May or June 2020 will be granted an extension through July 31, 2020 in order to meet the state mandated CE requirements. This includes NC nonresident adjusters with NC as the Designated Home State (DHS).

Contact education@iianc.com with questions.

Licensing

From the NCDOI: Activities Requiring a License and Non-Licensable Administrative Activities

Will there be a delay in testing for licensing?

Pearson VUE testing centers will be closed through April 15; candidates requiring exams for new licenses or lines of authority will be unable to test. Pearson VUE will reevaluate their testing location status and will notify the department of their decision.

NCDOI is continuing to seek ways to enable individuals to obtain licensure.

Will there be a delay in issuing licenses?
There will be delays in issuing new licenses requiring fingerprints since many sheriff’s offices are suspending fingerprinting services for occupational licenses. Agent Services cannot waive this statutory requirement for fingerprinting new applicants.
