General Session: "How Did We End Up Here??"
Presenter: Dr. David Marlett, PhD, CPCU

Dr. David Marlett, Managing Director of the Brantley Risk & Insurance Center at Appalachian State University, will share insights on just how we got into this hard market, with a focus on economic conditions and climate issues. Dr. Marlett will also share his thoughts and predictions on the future of the market. 




General Session: "How To Have the Rate Conversation"
Presenter: Kelly Donahue-Piro

This very useful session will help agencies identify how to explain insurance rate increases in a way that educates and prepares the client for the hard insurance market. We want to take the rate conversation as an opportunity to review the accounts, update discounts, confirm the accuracy of the policy and make recommendations. This will help every attendee with tools and scripts to maximize the opportunity in this market.

General Session: "A Conversation With the Regulator"

IIANC lobbyist Joe Stewart will be joined by Sharon Thornton-Hall, AAI, AIS, AINS, the Insurance Regulatory Analyst Manager in the Property and Casualty Division of the North Carolina Department of Insurance, for a one-on-one discussion of the perspective of the state insurance regulatory agency on the current hard market conditions in North Carolina, and the role the agency plays in assessing and taking action when the financial solvency of a carrier is in question.


General Session: "How To Lead Your Team in a Hard Market"
Presenter: Kelly Donahue-Piro

We know that burnout is high and team morale is lower and leaders are looking for a way to motivate their team. In a hard market you need to be a War Time leader and give your team a clear plan to succeed. This will help every attendee with a clear leadership plan for boosting team morale and success.
